There was an interesting article in CNN Money this month that asked the question – Is My Data Safe?  CNN Money interviewed Bruce Schneier, a cryptographer and computer security expert and fellow at Harvard Law’s Center for Internet and Society.

In my opinion, the most important question was – What about criminals getting into my data?  “There are hacker threats.

Compared with the threat of what you give away, they’re kind of the noise, but they’re real.”

What does your bank, insurance agent, hospital and auto dealer do with outdated computer equipment?  More importantly, how do they dispose of the hard drives that hold your information?  Are they giving away your information?

Computer hard drive destruction greatly reduces the risk of your information getting into the hands of criminals.  Erasing hard drives is prone to risks…especially because those same hard drives end up being sold on the secondary market such as eBay.
